October Sky

Personally my opinion on the movie October Sky is I think it is a great movie that shows character Ed trait and has connections to earth science also physical science. A synopsis of this movie is a boy named Homer in 1957 dreams of making a rocket and working for NASA. Along with his friends they together build a rocket that is extraordinary to a small little town, but along the way Homer runs in to bumps in the road. When figuring out to go work in the Mines just like his father and all of the other men when his father gets hurt. Or will he make his dream come true and leave a small little town to win his dream in winning a National Science Fair. In the end Homer goes and works in the Mines to support his family. Soon after he works for the Mines he goes and wins the National Science Fair and works for NASA. Therefore this movie is related to science and math for many reasons. For example when Homer and his friends where testing a rocket it did not work and landed something else. Later they where excused of blowing up a mine and where not allowed to test rockets anymore, but they proved they did not cause the destruction by using math. By figuring out the angles and distance of where it should have landed. Proving them innocent. Therefore another example of a science connection is when some of the people who worked in the mines died due to lung cancer. In this movie many examples of Character Education is shown. Such as when Homer and his friends together cooperate when building and testing there rocket. All in all the movie October Sky shows great examples of Physical and earth science also Character Education.
