What Happens With Weather

In class we learned about Winds, Moisture in the air, Weather Patterns and about predicting weather.

Winds: Little do most people think wind is caused by tree's moving back and forth ,but, wind is truly caused by air moving from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.
*Coriolis Effect: is a part of the wind family and the definition is shift of wind direction caused by rotation of the Earth on it's axis.

Moisture in the air: Moisture in the air can often relate to how cold or hot you may feel in the summer or winter. You are usually very hot in the summer caused by humidity.
*Relative Humidity: percentage of moisture the air holds relative to the amount it could hold at a particular temperature.

Weather Patterns: Weather Patterns are usually the most easy to understand. Like how everybody knows in New Jersey it is freezing in the Winter but very hot in the Summer, for the reason that, this is all caused by a weather pattern.
*Sea Breeze: flow of air from the sea to land.
*Land Breeze: flow of air from land to sea.
*Front: Boundary that forms when to air masses with different properties meet.
*Air Mass: Large body of air pressing down on the earth's surface.
*Evaporation: process by which radiant energy from the sun turns liquid wear into a gas.
*Precipitation: Water that falls from the atmosphere to the Earth as rain, sleet, snow or hail.


Tools Used to measure Weather Patterns or results of Weather:
*Rain Gauge: Instrument used to measure rainfall.
*Psycho meter: Instrument used to measure relative humidity.
*Anemometer: Instrument used to measure wind speed.
